When It’s Breezy Swing Easy (Video) - by Pete Styles

There is one weather condition that you may feel that you are suffering more than most and that’s the windy days, as soon as the winds gets up a lot of golfers panic about how they are going to play and how they are going to score and how difficult it is in the wind, really the wind although it may made the golf course a little bit more difficult, it kind of gives and it takes a little bit. When you are playing into the wind yes it’s going to be more difficult, but most golf courses if you are playing into the wind on one hole you won't’ be playing back down the wind on the next hole so it does giving it takes.

The key thing is to stay mentally strong and keep good fundamentally sound positions within your golf swing. The real fault that I see with most golfers when they are playing in the wind that they try and battle the wind they take it as a challenge and they fight the wind, they trying to hit the ball harder and harder trying to drill it under the wind and that sort of thing. And really the skill is just to adapt your game softly to allow for the wind in order to wants to the golf ball and not to fight or argue with it. So the real thing that I would see is adjust for the wind in terms of your club selection more than you expect, as soon as you see the wind is sort of blowing and it’s sticking the flags out and wobbling them around judge the wind speed in terms of clubs, how many clubs do I need, do I need one club more, two club more, three clubs more and then when you actually made your swing you can still make it really easy smooth golf swing and you don’t have to hit it too hard.

I think most club golfers they don’t allow enough for the wind, they see the wind and they oh I just hit this harder, or they see the wind and I will allow one club, and on the top of the swing they think and I will hit it harder and they end up hitting the ball harder and harder either striking it badly or imparting so much spin and height on the ball, it is just flies up into the air, and then will get blown around by the wind into ahead when it will stop with the cross wind it will blow sideways. What I would really like to see you do is allow more clubs for the winds and then swing smoother in the wind, so a nice strong wind way kind of blows the flags and blows your t-shirts a little bit go up to two or three clubs keep your swing nice and evenly paste and rhythmical, if the wind is blowing from left to right, right to left aim further to the side and just be smooth rather than trying to aim at the flag and cut it or hook it you back into the wind, allow more of the wind and swing easy when it’s breezy.
