What should I focus on to create perfect hip rotation in my golf swing? Now the hips are a major source of power and a great driver of consistency when you are actually striking the ball. If you moved in correctly it can open up fantastic avenues of the accuracy and distance, if you use them incorrectly it can open up terrible avenues of inconsistent ball striking in different ball shapes. Now to drive your hips correctly there are a few key checkpoints you can use, but today we are just going to speak about how you can focus on your belt buckle to actually help you have a more consistent hip turn. Now during the backswing your hip should remain relatively static, as you are turning back you want to start building the resistance swing the lower and the upper body. So as you swing back keep those hips nice and still and you want belt buckle would be pointing as straight forward as possible.
As you turn to the top of your swing it should probably rotate slightly so your belt buckle would be pointing about kind of 45 degrees off the right hand side as you reach the top of your backswing. As you come through the ball you want to be getting that belt buckle rotating and it impact pointing pretty much; 45 degrees to the left hand side. After impact you can continue until that belt buckle points straight down towards your target. So thinking about your belt buckle can really help you actually focus and control how your hips turn, so taking it back again the belt buckle pointing out 45 degrees to the right hand side swinging it through impact getting it pointed 45 degrees left and then down to the target after you’ve actually hit the shot.
It's just a great way to bring everything under control; one thing you don’t want to do is just try and move your hips as first as possible. The faster you move your hips the more potential club head speed you can generate but the faster you move your hips the more everything can also fall out of sequence. So just ensure that it is a nice control of movement work on those checkpoints and hopefully you will see a much more consistent movement with your hips, much more consistent ball striking and hopefully some better shot shapes as well.
