Video Transscripe: I'm here today to talk to you about the Thomas Golf AT705 range of hybrid golf clubs an amazing range of hybrid golf clubs using the patented Thomas golf alignment technology line on the top of the golf club that's a simple piece of technology taken from what we generally see in putters. Now when we stand over a putter we often see it's got alignment line helping us point toward the target.
So why aren't we utilizing that sort of technology in our long irons hybrid clubs and drivers? With the AT705 range that's what I've got as an option. So when I set the club behind the ball it helps me point towards my target line it's a curved profile shape is very similar to a normal sort of hybrid golf club we've got loads of weight low in deep and underneath the golf ball.
So when we set the ball up behind the sorry set the club behind the ball the alignment line point my way home to target the weight is low and deep the club feel superbly balanced on when I make my swing and it just glides the club through the turf and lifts the ball up into the air. Now specifically today I'm testing out the five hybrid option so it's a five iron version with a twenty seven degrees of loft that's designed to replace the five iron in your set but the great thing about the 705 range is it has all the different options covered so if you don't get on with your seven and eight times as well then the hybrid golf clubs will replace the entire set right from two all the way out of the sand wedge.
I'm not just asking you to take my word for it today you know a lot of people say well you're a professional you can hit anything but as a club golfer let's do some real world testing with a club golfer. Would you feel that categorize you as about the average golfer, definitely definitely any anyway area that requires a bit at the long irons that's the area where I struggle with consistency Well hopefully we've got a nice a nice option for you today that might actually replace some of those long irons be able to give you a bit more consistency Now let me just ask do you have a hybrid club in your set currently.
I do it like an eighteen degree hybrid and how do you feel with that do you get on ok with that. Mixed sometimes it's good. Sometimes not so good one of the things I really struggle with it is because it's got a curved back and a curved front it's there's no straight edges sometimes I don't know whether I'm pointing at the pin at the green or where I'm pointing and I'll hit a good shot and it will go somewhere I hadn't expected.
So you have a little test of this already had a little ahead of this already and how do you like this when you set up this well in many ways it's like the one I'm used to so that's good but the real difference here is this alignment line it just gives you that instant feedback that I am aligned I've got this club lined up right and that means I can line my feet up right I've got my points that I've picked out here which I know is is in line with my target so I get that alignment line through the ball to my point which I think lined up to that and it just gives you that confidence I don't get from my all the hybrid. Ok let's go ahead andhead a few shots Matt I'm going to set up initially with a a five hybrid off the fairway lie hoping for a shot that lands about one seventy one eighty yards away with a nice high flight.
That's good that's actually a little bit at the bottom of the golf club by the sound of that on that little bit at the bottom but actually a very could fly wasn't it really got up there and flew quite high that's one of the best bad shots I've ever hit. Ok well that's part of playing good golf is minimizing our bad shots and actually making that bad shots can play in that kind of work well for you now have not been particularly generous with this one guys have took this one down a little but this one's really sitting down in the same year of it's kind of a juicy lie down in the semi rough but I haven't been particularly kind of the flats have a go at this one time.
And again that's come out quite nicely that was actually a very tough lie on really got down through the golf ball and that balls come out quite deep and that's really a great option for a lot of club golfers that when they get themselves off the fairway to the side of the fairway you wouldn't necessarily have a club to play that shot with maybe the eighteen degree hybrid would come out to like a long the lines wouldn't suit but also you don't turn sideways and pitch it out with a lofted iron.
I think in that situation normally I wouldn't reach the eight iron and be happy to be on the fairway but sixty yards short of the green. So this is much preferable so it gives you that distance but also because it's a five with twenty seven degrees loft it gives you enough loft to really get underneath the ball and get flying out there so could you see an option where that would have a place in your bag to replace one of those long irons and be an additional hybrid club in your game either that or I might replace the hybrid that I've got now because it gives me everything that that one gives me plus I know I'm lined up and you know it's a solid club where I've really enjoyed getting into.
There really is a lovely flight off this club I really enjoy testing this AT705 today from Thomas Golf the AT hybrid range and I really hope you find a place for this to go in your bag if you look online at ThomasGolf.com you'll find great custom fitting options you fill out the simple form there about your height your age your ability hand size and wrist to floor measurement and they'll be able to custom fit a golf club for you in terms of getting the length of the shaft the grip thickness and the flex of the shaft and all those custom fit options are available online is a great online fitting guide.
