So, here are a set of ball exercise that should help you get a nice crisp strike on the golf ball when you’re chipping. This is a golf ball I’m going to be aiming for here and this is the golf ball I placed to make sure that I don’t just trying to scoop the golf ball and hit up on the ball which would be incorrect. I’m trying to hit down on the golf ball. Now, I’m not going to cheat to remove the ball position around too much. I’m going to try and keep the golf ball positioned nice and centered in the middle of my feet. Yes, I’ve got the narrowest stands like would you do for chipping normally. I’m gripping down on the golf club and I’m leaning slightly into my left side. And that were good parts of your technique that should help you to be able a crisper and a bit more of a down strike when you’re chipping. But the ball at the back here is really there to emphasize the fact that I’m not allowed to lean back and scoop. So, I set myself up here. This body is directly in line and maybe nine inches back behind my ball. I have to work really hard now with my hands and my body to stay forward, to left the club up and to descend on the golf ball. Feel like I’m chopping and that will help me get a nice clean crisp strike. Any idea of leaning back and sweeping the club away and scooping the ball in that will hit that golf ball as I’ll show you in a second. So, ball in the center, leaning to the left side, pick it up, hit down nice and sharp and steep, and I get a really good crisp contact on that pit shot. If I have a golf ball here and I do the wrong thing, I start to sweep the club on the way back and knock the rear ball away or if I lift the golf club up and then lean back, I’ll hit both balls at the same time. Clearly, that’s going to cause me a few problems. So I want to be much more on to my left side, steep and down. So having another golf ball, nine inches behind your target ball, getting in front of it, get steep and only hit the front ball is a great exercise to crispen up the strike on your chip shots.
