Born in Décines, near to the city of Lyon in France, Stal turned professional in 2012. He began his professional career playing on the Challenge Tour, and won his first event at the Kärnten Golf Open, where he was playing on an invitation. He didn’t have to wait long for his second tour victory, which came at the Credit Suisse Challenge, just one month later. As a result, Stal graduated to the European Tour. During 2013, Stal did not perform as well during the season, but he played well at qualifying school, which meant that he retained his place on the tour. After spending the 2014 season on the tour, Stal finished in 89th place on the Order of Merit, having made the cut in 21 out of 25 tournaments he started.
Stal secured his first victory on the European Tour, at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship in 2015. He secured the win by one stroke over Rory McIlroy.
As of the end of 2014, Stal had not made any appearances on the PGA Tour, he made his first appearance in 2015.
