US professional Fleisher was born in Union City, Tennessee in 1948, and began his interest in golf at the age of seven, when he started to act as a caddie for his two brothers. Fleisher went on to study at Miami-Dade Junior College and Furman University. His interest in golf continued, as a player, and in 1969 he became the youngest player to win the U.S. Amateur, at the age of just nineteen. After this initial success Fleisher turned professional in 1969.
Fleisher had a relatively modest professional career, achieving just one win on the PGA Tour, at the New England Classic in 1991. He also achieved a few wins at minor tournaments. Since turning 50, Fleisher has achieved far more success as a member of what was the Senior PGA Tour and is now the Champions Tour. He achieved 18 wins, including a win at the 2001 U.S. Senior Open.
