In “other golf-related-news”, we’ve just learned that Tiger Woods’ name was dropped from a lawsuit regarding a wrongful death of one of his former employees who was working in the Woods Jupiter Restaurant. Approximately one month ago, Tiger Woods was a defendant in the case, but earlier this week, his lawyer announced that our favorite golf player is no longer a defendant in the respective lawsuit, as the 43 year olds name is no longer in the amended case.
To give you a little bit of context, back in May, the current year, a lawsuit was filed by Nicholas Immesberger’s parents, claiming that the death of their son (a drunk-driving accident by the way) was the responsibility of Tiger Woods’ girlfriend, namely Erica Herman, who runs the restaurant; the same lawsuit is ongoing against The Woods Jupiter restaurant itself, and this is from a ESPN report which cites Barry Postman, Tiger Woods’ attorney explaining what’s behind the decision of the plaintiffs to drop the PGA Tour star’s name from the lawsuit:
“The decision was clearly appropriate and reflected the fact that Mr. Woods should not have been included in the lawsuit in the first place because he had nothing to do with Mr. Immesberger’s death.
“While the situation was tragic, the facts will ultimately show that the cause of Mr. Immesberger’s car accident were the many decisions made by Mr. Immesberger on the night of his passing.”
According to the lawsuit filed by Nicholas Immesberger’s parents in May, their son died in a car crash after being served an excessive amount of alcohol, because both the managers and the employees of The Woods Jupiter restaurant allowed him to drive home, without wearing a seatbelt, though they knew he drank too much alcohol, or something along these lines.
Tiger Woods addressed the issue personally back in May at the PGA Championship, though he wasn’t involved in anything pertaining to the tragic death, by saying:
“We’re all very sad that Nick passed away. It was a terrible night, a terrible ending, and just—we feel bad for him and his entire family. It’s very sad.”
