Tour Edge Presents Wingman putter series

Speaking of the other end of the golf bag, Tour Edge revealed recently its new Wingman putter series, also known as the Wingman mallet putter, which makes for a high MOI (moment of inertia) mini-mallet design, which, according to insider sources (read Glod) was no less than 2 years into development. The new Wingman comes with interchangeable weights and lock on alignment, on top of its extremely high moment of inertia. There are three distinct models to choose from and each putter features weighted wings, which are crafted to deliver true roll, as per Tour Edge tradition, via promoting the face square to the swing path.

The cutting edge alignment technology, the Lock-On thing respectively, is designed to further overall aiding alignment by allowing the lie angle to be set at address perfectly square, or something along these lines. The Wingman putter also comes with 3, 8 and 15 grams interchangeable weights, the three grams making for the standard option. Also, you’ll get a separate weight kit, featuring interchangeable 8-gram weights, two of them respectively, plus 2x 15-gram weights, which allow you to tinker around with the putter until you get your preferred feel by adding/subtracting weight to the toe/heel as you see fit.

The Wingman putter’s head weighs 355 grams in the standard configuration, and the extra-weights delivered by Tour Edge allow you to create 9 distinct weight combos and 6 possible head weights, with a maximum possible head weight standing at 379 grams. As per Tour Edge’s tech specs, the new Wingman putters make for the company’s highest-ever moment of inertia rating, which, as a metric, is clearly excellent in terms of protecting against twisting. Here’s Tour Edge President and Master Club Designer David Glod speaking on his company’s latest Wingman putters:

“This is our first ultra-premium Exotics putter in some time and it features some really cool tech. We took two years in R&D with extensive testing to come up with the perfect design that will allow Tour Edge to offer extreme tour-quality performance on the green, while offering more features and benefits than that of extreme MOI putters that cost twice as much.”

As expected from Tour Edge, even if the Wingman comes with an off-the-charts moment of inertia, MicroGroove technology on the face and a cutting edge Surlyn-made face insert for impeccable sound and feel, this putter is not expensive compared to similar gear available on the market today. The MicroGroove face-technology promotes a pure and soft feel at contact, as the horizontal grooves are designed to improve forward roll and to reduce skid, while the carbon fiber soleplate saves weight, which is further redistributed to the back and sides of the clubhead, in order to boost moment of inertia and improve feel and sound. As we already told you, there are three versions of the Wingman: the Wingman 0-1, which is great for golfers with a putting stroke with a slight arc, and comes with a Mid-Toe-Hang (30°). Then, there's the Wingman 0-2, which makes for a face-balanced putter, and the Wingman 0-3, a centered shaft putter, which is designed to promote a stable stroke and comes with an interesting alignment line (white). All the putters in the Wingman series are delivered with a KBS CT Tour putter shaft and arrive in a black PVD paint-job, plus a jumbo Wingman branded Sink Fit Straight grip in 3 hosel options: the Wingman-01/Toe-Hang hosel, Wingman-02/ Face-Balanced, and Wingman-03/Center-Shafted model; moreover, alll models are available in 33”, 34” and 35” in right-hand only.

As per pricing and availability, the Exotics Wingman putters will cost $199.99 MSRP (each), and they can be ordered starting with April 1st.
