The new TaylorMade P790 UDI forged driving iron is the latest addition to the company’s P790 range. The P790 UDI is a very interesting piece of golf gear, and it has already seen “combat’, i.e. has been played by Tour pros like Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Jason Day during the current season. The P790 UDI boasts a forged construction with TaylorMade’s patented SpeedFoam technology, to provide you with amazing accuracy and distance. Just like the other irons in the P790 range, the UDI is built using a high quality/soft 8620 carbon steel body, together with a high strength 4140 forged carbon steel, featuring a warped face built in a hollow body design. The hollow body construction of the TaylorMade P790 UDI hides inside the patented SpeedFoam material injected in the club-head, which serves a double purpose: first, it helps increase ball speeds, and second, it takes care of the sound&feel department.
This low density material also provides damping properties and face support, contributing to the overall performance of the club. The TaylorMade P790 UDI also comes with the company’s Inverted Cone Technology, which has been re engineered and optimized for the iron’s smaller (compared to the previous ICT, which had a heavier and larger profile) face area. The new and smaller ICT in the TaylorMade P790 UDI allowed the company to create a thinner face at the edges, which increases flexibility low on the club-face and from heel to toe, thus resulting in improved ball speed across the face. The TaylorMade P790 UDI also comes with a MIM (metal injection molded) tungsten weighting system, which are strategically positioned for delivering a higher moment of inertia and a precise center of gravity placement, to increase both playability and forgiveness. TaylorMade’s UDI forged iron became available back in April and it comes equipped with ProjectX HZRDUS’ black shaft and gripped with a Golf Pride TV 360. Obviously, you’ll be able to get your TaylorMade P790 UDI forged iron in a custom build, as the company offers extensive steel/graphite .355 options.
