Lady golfers reading this article should rejoice, because today’s good news is that Ping announced recently their latest G Le2 women’s clubs, which make for the new generation custom fit women’s equipment, or something along these lines. According to Ping’s press release, the G Le2 clubs are the company’s best and highest performing clubs designed for women golfers in history, and that’s due to recent advancements in technology, which translate into lighter materials which impact overall club weight, as well as premium materials incorporated into the clubs, not to mention the expanded fitting options which are now available for all genders.

Another good thing for our readers is that the complete line of G Le2 clubs is already available (on pre-order) at all authorized Ping shops across North America. According to Stacey Pauwels, who is the granddaughter of PING founders Karsten and Louise Solheim as well as Ping’s Executive Vice President in charge of overseeing the company’s women initiatives:

“The G Le2 represents our continued commitment to providing women golfers of every skill level with premium, high-performance equipment optimized to their swing speeds. To achieve one of our performance goals of improving the feel of the club throughout the entire swing, we focused on making the clubs lighter overall. We integrated our extensive knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes with our proven design technologies to deliver measurable improvements throughout the set. At the same time, we wanted to present the new clubs in a visually appealing and confidence-inspiring way. We’re extremely excited about the results and look forward to bringing the G Le2 family to women golfers around the world.”

So, here we have it: the G Le2 line-up comes not only with measurable increases in performance, but they’re also custom fit and custom built to please women golfers, as Ping’s engineers paid extra attention and focused on improving and expanding fitting options to help their customers find the perfect set-up to match their exact needs. Stacey Pauwels added:

“Because we custom build every club, we want women to know we’ll make them a set that best fits their game. The key is determining the ideal set makeup that provides proper distance gaps between each club. That may be a full set or maybe a smaller set of a few metal woods, hybrids, irons, a wedge and a putter. Once we have all their fitting information, we can custom build the clubs to their precise specifications for maximum performance.”

If you are wondering what’s up with Ping’s new-generation of clubs for women, here’s a the TL;DR version: the new driver makes for a high performance piece of golf-gear built specifically with women bio-mechanics in mind, i.e.it maximizes distance and forgiveness via a higher moment of inertia construction, a much faster face compared to previous models and dramatically reduced overall weight. The head is made using cutting edge materials (read titanium, spacecraft stuff), and it has been redesigned, boasting improved aerodynamics and a rounder shape, which helps with achieving faster club head speeds shot after shot, round after round. The face is very thin and forged from T9S+ steel, with an optimized profile that enhances flexing thus promoting more swing speed, which translates into improved ball velocity, better launching conditions and more overall distance. Ping added into the mix an internal weighting system, heel-biased respectively, that promotes a more stable/straight ball flight trajectory, and they also included softer turbulators, whose purpose is to help with framing the ball at address.

The new G Le 2 drivers also features Trajectory Tuning 2.0 technology, which utilizes a brand new aerodynamic and lightweight hosel sleeve, which works wonders in regard to providing no less than 8 positions for modifying ball flight via loft (±1.5°) adjustments.

The fairway woods were also upgraded, and they are now built with a lightning fast maraging steel C300 face. The moment of inertia is significantly higher compared to previous generations; on top of that, the fairway wood from the latest G Le 2 family arrives with an eight lobe adjustable hosel, which is yet another significant upgrade compared to its predecessor. The new (shallower) face technology improves ball speed and promotes more distance, while helping with launching the ball higher and easier than ever before, not to mention the fact that the new fairways woods are focused on improving forgiveness. Finally, Ping managed to shave significant amounts of weight from their new fairway woods, creating a lighter and faster club, for straighter and longer results via more club head speed. There’s also an internal weighting system available which keeps shots on target by promoting right to left corrections. The new fairways woods are in 3, 5, 7 and 9.

The new G Le2 irons are utilizing Ping’s patented COR-Eye Technology and they’re made to be as forgiving and precise as humanly possible due to lighter overall weight and a more flexible face which promotes ball speed and a better launch/improved maximum height. Ping’s engineers added a tungsten toe weight into the mix which helps with increasing moment of inertia by ten percent for improved forgiveness, while the co-molded cavity badge delivers smooth feel and a pleasant sound. The new G Le 2 is available in 6-9 iron, PW, UW, SW.

Moving around with our story, we have the new hybrids in Ping’s latest collection for women golfers. The G Le 2 hybrids boast a faster face, as well as they’re made to be higher launching than ever before, and come with more fitting choices. To begin with the most important part, the new hybrids are built with a hotter and thinner Carpenter 455 face, while the weight-saving due to improved materials and new technologies helps with generating faster ball speeds than ever before. On top of that, the hybrids boast a deeper and lower center of gravity, which helps with increasing the club’s moment of inertia, a feature that further promotes launching conditions as well as overall forgiveness. Ping added a new 34° 7 hybrid in their G Le 2 collection, for expanding fitting options for women golfers who are looking to replace an iron with a high-tech hybrid. There are also softer turbulators at work in the new hybrids, and they’re aimed at helping capture the ball easier at address, and also to help with alignment issues; the new hybrids are available in 4, 5, 6 and 7.

Finally, we have the G Le 2 putters, also specially designed with women golfers in mind; to describe the new G Le 2 putters succinctly, these babies are very forgiving and benefit from improved feel and more adjustability than ever before, due to an adjustable length shaft built using TR technology. All these tech gizmos provide better feel at impact, thanks to a soft front layer, which is backed by a second/firmer, which improves control and better consistency on putts, regardless of distance. Finally, the putters come with a brand new (and softer) PP59 midsize grip, designed to improve control and feel, plus an easy to use adjustable shaft, that allows self-fitting when it comes to lengths between 31 and 35 inches.

If you’re looking for softer and lighter shafts, rest assured as the new Ping line-up offers state of the art ULT240 Lite and Ultra Lite premium graphite shafts as standard, which help with reducing overall weight, and also deliver more speed and promote a higher launch trajectory. The super-soft Golf Pride Tour Velvet Garnet 360 grip is also an option, and it’s available in 3 sizes: Blue -1/16?, Red -1/32?, Aqua -1/64?.
