Here Come FootJoy’s Latest Golf Shoes: Pro SL Pro SL Carbon

Until recently, carbon was associated with high-performance sports cars and high-end drivers, but FootJoy decided to build a pair of golf shoes using this space-age material, so yeah, 2020 promises to be an interesting year. The new Pro SL and Pro SL Carbon golf shoes are packed to the brim with the latest technological innovations in FootJoy’s portfolio, and they feature improved stability, traction and comfort.

What’s really fantastic about these classic looking golf shoes is that they combine old-school/traditional design with cutting edge materials and performance at a reasonable price, and speaking about performance, we must mention the new Infinity outsole configuration which is one of the main selling points of the Pro SL shoe. The Infinity thing consists of no less than 189 traction points, and in real life this translates into maximum contact with the turf in all weather conditions, not to mention that they make for a solid foundation for your feet throughout the golf swing, i.e. the Pro SL is the epitome of stability and traction.

Another advantage of the Infinity sole shape is that it boasts an 11.5 percent wider heel compared to previous generations and that increases and optimizes forefoot stability. Another technological improvement in the Pro SL shoe is the Dual-Density (D2) Midsole, that comes with the patented FineTuned Foam (FTF) in two densities, which makes for a firm FTF around the perimeter for control and support and a softer FTF compound under the foot, which delivers amazing comfort and cushioning. The outsole of the FootJoy Pro SL golf shoe was not neglected, as it’s fully waterproof and made using premium ChromoSkin leather by Pittards. This amazing shoe can be ordered in 6 color codes for the laced version, and there’s another BOA option available for men golfers. The women version comes in 3 colorways laced plus the additional BOA.

Here’s Richard Fryer, Director of Product Management at FJ Footwear commenting on the new release:

“As the industry leader, we didn’t tweak or adjust the new Pro|SL, we innovated and advanced and received Tour approval. As a result, we’ve developed a product that delivers more stability, more traction, more comfort, and more choice, setting the standard in performance footwear, again”

The Carbon version of the Pro SL is way more interesting if you’re into high-performance golf gear, as it features a full-length carbon fiber insert into the midsole for delivering the ultimate motion control and stability. The respective insert is designed to flex and elastically snap-back with each step, thus creating a trampoline-like effect which basically recovers some of the energy created during walking, and hence it makes walking let’s say effortless, i.e. you’ll benefit from less leg and foot fatigue. The Pro SL Carbon shoe also features enhanced wrap-around comfort and no-slip fit via a molded soft collar and excellent underfoot cushioning due to a specially designed OrthoLite Impressions FitBed. The Carbon golf shoe is available in 2 colorways and it’s also built using premium waterproof ChromoSkin leather by Pittards. Finally, if you’re sold on FootJoy’s latest golf shoes, here are the prices: the regular Pro SL costs $190 in its laced version and $210 in BOA, while the more advanced Carbon thing will drain $220 from your bank account. The women's version is priced at $175 laced and $210 BOA.
