The Cardinal Country Club (Now Sedgefield Dye Course) Course Review

A true test of your golfing abilities. The Cardinal Country Club, now owned by McConnell Golf Properties, falls under the Sedgefield name but did not lose any of its luster. The practice facilities are decent, but the golf course is what brings all the excitement.

The practice facilities at The Cardinal are not the most exquisite thing in the world, but they are suitable for the every day golfer. The driving range can only hold 20-25 golfers at one time, and the short game facility is sub-par. The putting green is decent, but lacks the size that most of the other courses in the area offer their members. Home to the Cardinal Amateur Championship, and multiple college and amateur tournaments, The Cardinal Golf Club is as challenging as they come. Rebuilt in 2006, after being bought by McConnell Golf, they did a good job of keeping the original Pete Dye features intact. Leaving many of the intricate creeks and ponds, as well as the beautiful rail road ties throughout, many of Dyes charming touches remain in the new- aged masterpiece.

The golf course is full of length throughout, and bunkers are waiting around every corner. If you are able to navigate your way through the tight, windy, and extremely lengthy golf course, you can have a rewarding round ahead of you. But beware, if you are not on your A game, and cant find the fairway off of the tee, then you will struggle and be beat around pretty bad. This golf course is not your typical member course, which you would get that feeling when you look at the scorecard and see a par 70 awaiting you, but be careful. There is plenty of length at this track, and the elevation throughout adds the right amount of length to mess with anyones game.
