The ST acronym stands for Smooth Tack, and the good news for our readers is that Lamkin introduced recently 2 new additions to its Sonar line, the ST+2 Hybrid and ST+2 Hybrid Calibrate respectively. The new grips are brand new for 2020, and they both feature the company’s Calibrate Technology, which marks its first appearance in the ST family. It’s also worth mentioning that the T+2 Hybrid Calibrate grip is also marking a first for Lamkin, being “blessed” with the most prominent reminder spine in history, i.e. there's no other grip ever produced by the company to feature such a thing; in case you're not up to date with the news, the reminder spine is designed to optimize hand placement, as well as control, clubface awareness and feel.
The brand new for 2020 ST+2 Hybrid and ST+2 Hybrid Calibrate grips are covered in Lamkin’s proprietary Smooth Tack material, which is basically a “tech-twist” of the company’s Genesis Material, a special formulation of sorts that comes with a smooth tacky surface and improved durability compared to previous generations. Each new grip incorporates 2 different zones: the “tacky” lower section of the ST+2 Hybrid and ST+2 Hybrid Calibrate grips is designed to deliver unparalleled stability and control to the guiding hand, while the upper comes with a special infused-cord, for better traction for the anchoring hand. Moreover, the (+2) midsized plus profile comes with a reduced taper, in order to fulfill the requirements of a wide variety of golfers.
But wait, the good news doesn't stop here, as Lamkin also introduced Calibrate Technology to its Sonar family, and we’re talking about the Sonar+ Wrap Calibrate and Sonar+ Tour Calibrate, in addition to the ST family, obviously. The Sonar+ Wrap Calibrate makes for the first wrap-grip ever to feature calibrate technology; on top of that, the Sonar+ Wrap Calibrate boasts Lamkin’s patented Fingerprint Technology along with the aforementioned Genesis Material. In case you were wondering, Fingerprint Technology consists of a generous micro-texture surface pattern added for omnidirectional traction and slip-resistant control. The “more premium” Sonar+ Tour Calibrate grip also comes with Fingerprint Technology, as well as Lamkin’s Genesis Material, and it’s designed to meet and exceed the expectations of higher swing golfers, featuring a plus-size taper shape. Here's Lamkin Grips’ CEO Bob Lamkin commenting of his company’s latest additions:
“2020 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in our 95-year history, as we’re introducing breakthroughs both in material and design innovation. Genesis Material has been a complete gamechanger for us and the addition of Smooth Tack further exemplifies how the materials used in a golf grip can be engineered to impact performance, confidence and the lifespan of the product. With Calibrate we saw an opportunity to vastly improve the reminder / ribbed grip category, and it is without doubt a substantial advancement over what is currently on the market not only in performance but also in ease of installation.”
