There will be occasions on the golf course where you want to hit the golf ball lower than normal. So I've got my seven iron here so my seven I would normally go relatively high in the air over a hundred fifty hundred sixty yards but decide now that I want to hit that shot but I want to hit it low. Well you might ask well why would you have to do that? well imagine a situation where there were some trees overhanging and I've got to go underneath the trees or into a really aggressive headwind or cross wind I think I need to hit this poor lower. How am I going to do that what can I do to hit that lower flight couple of things you could do to start with one thing would be to move the ball back in your stance my normal ball position with a seven iron would be here but if I stood here and moved it near toward my right foot is the right hand a golfer that will be back in my stance is now going to present the club face with slightly less loft. So when I hit that ball it should go slightly lower.

Other considerations would be that how about if I got a seven iron distance but I want to go lower or why don't I take a six and hit it soft a six has less loft than a seven not hitting it as hard is definitely going to bring the ball flight down a little bit as well. So I could actually punch the ball into a headwind or into a crosswind using a lower lofted club and I just don't quite hit it as hard. So not hitting as hard might mean gripping a bit lower down or swinging a bit shorter coming back and then as I hit the ball it will fly a little bit lower the other thing I focus on as well is having quite a short follow through. So not necessarily finishing with the hounds or higher up in the air here but actually having a little bit more of a punchy sort of knock down effect in the following three to five go ahead and set up to this one here seven iron clad little that back in my stance play with my hands nicely ahead and a short back swing a short follow through, and the ball flight comes down a little bit lower it doesn't go quite as high into the air and it comes down that nice and straight to. Was my target but noticeably lower than my standard seven iron golf swing. So if you want to hit the ball lower for the headwind or punch out underneath the trees we've got the ball position back a little bit we've got a a longer club maybe a six sign with a slightly shorter swing now we've got that low a little held off finish and that should encourage you to hit the lower point you've got a shot.
