One of the first things that I do with a golfer on the lesson tee is I'll often video there swing and play it straight back to them. For a lot of golfers that never really seen their swing in the past not in great detail anyway and I show them their swing and say “So what do you think about your swing?” I might even flash a comparison of Justin Rose or Ernie Els or whoever it might be and say What do you think the differences are here and the first thing that most club an amateur golfers notice is their posture not stable stand to the golf ball be surprised how they're standing there standing to the golf ball with a slouch in with a position like this and they see Ernie Els and he's standing over the ball of a different position there I can see that. That's quite a big obvious difference we say OK well how can you get into that position because although a good posture position looks great shouldn't really be that difficult to get into Should it be physically that demanding to stand to the golf ball with me flex and a good straight spine angle here as opposed to this position a lot of golfers do find it difficult to get into that good posture position and that's because the flexibility of key areas might not be good enough to actually hold that position. Gets out strange that we talk about flexibility when really we're just standing up straight and tilting forwards we're not doing sort of how the string stretches or cartwheels and gymnastic maneuverer this is just standing up straight but for a lot of golfers.
When they get into this position we want to see a little knee flex or pushing back of the hips and talking and we have the belly button and a good straight spine angle they stand here and they go this is not comfortable this is really quite painful and after fifty balls have been held in this position they're not happy three areas generally calves down here hamstrings here lower back here and this is because we wouldn't normally stand in this position every day life so tight calf muscles are going to be a problem tight how the strings are going to want to stand up straight like this or even flex that needs to relax the hamstrings a little bit and again a tight lower back. We're going to want to take pressure off it by switching it off. Or actually used took the hips on to take pressure off the lower back so if you can be nice and flexible in your calves you have strings Angelo back maybe your posture position can look better key way of checking that is just get yourself a mirror. You don't have a video camera set up all the time to stand in front of a mirror or even a glass door at home and just have a look at whether you can get yourself with that good posture position and then hold it for a few seconds and see whether it hurts in the areas if there's any areas of soreness or tension you need to work on the flexibility of those areas improve your flexibility to improve your golf posture.
