The Callaway Warbird/Yellow golf balls are retailing for $17,99 a dozen (MSRP) and they're engineered for pleasing golfers looking for the ultimate distance and maximum ball flight, by using a very soft/high energy core. The Callaway Warbird golf ball is available in two options regarding the color: the traditional White and, if you require additional visibility, Optical Yellow. Color aside, these two are totally identical, performance wise. Long story short, these birds will definitely fly, as goes the Callaway tag-line about the Warbird. After playing a few rounds with these babies, and without mincing words, I must confess that the best way to describe the Callaway Warbird golf balls is distance, lots of distance, which is also any respectable ball's raison d'etre.
To achieve the ultimate distance, the Callaway Warbird is designed with 2 of Callaway's proprietary technologies: the Warbird core and the HEX aerodynamics. The core is softer and larger than usual, for providing crazy ball speeds, thus maximizing distance. Also, this core promotes a thinner coating/cover, thus enhancing feel, without making compromises in terms of distance and speed off the tee. The HEX aerodynamics provides penetrating distance and a long ball flight, also improves low speed lift by reducing drag and promoting a stable ball trajectory, that holds its line, even in windy conditions. Together with all these amazing features, the Callaway Warbird comes at a very competitive price, and it's aimed at golfers (higher handicappers basically) seeking more distance from tee to green. Bottom line, the Callaway Warbird golf ball can be described as a modern day-old school distance ball, or something very similar, as good as it gets nowadays. And I mean that as a compliment for Callaway, not a critique. To put it simply, the Callaway Warbird is a bomb, even if Callaway praises its all around playability and softness. Just tee it high and let this baby fly!

2017 Callaway Warbird Golf Ball Review
Spin: Low
Dimples: 332
Compression: Med
Category Comparison: Value
Spec: 2 piece/layer
Cover: Ionomer
Core: Compression Core
The Callaway Warbird golf ball retails for $17,99 a dozen (MSRP) and it's built for maximum flight and distance thanks to its high energy core and its two-piece design. The Callaway Warbird is available in white or optical yellow colorways, making for a great deal for the price asked. This ball feels very solid off the face from the tee, yet when it comes to soft/touch shots around the green, the distance and spin are somewhat tricky to control. With the putter, the Callaway Warbird offers a firm feel, which may not suit everyone, but then again, for the price asked, this is an excellent golf ball and it will serve you well if you're not so much after spin control. Long story short, the Callaway Warbird is a 2 piece distance ball par excellance, power packed with value and a relatively firm 90 compression core.
The tungsten-rubber engine of the Callaway Warbird is aimed at providing increased ball speed at impact for more distance and truth be told, this baby is pretty good at that. The Callaway Warbird is wrapped in a very resistant ionomer made cover, making it both durable and long. Ionomer is a pretty fancy material which basically reduces spin and improves ball speed especially on driver and long iron shots. The tough ionomer also provides great cut proof and scuff resistant durability. Regardless of how hard you hit your warbirds, they'll still look good and that's a nice feature to have even in a relatively cheap golf ball. Bottom line, if you're on the prowl for a golf ball which plays in the best bang for the buck category, the Callaway Warbird is very easy to recommend.
