The Volvik S3 retails for $45 a dozen (MSRP) and it's marketed as an ultra performance ball which boasts incredible amounts of accuracy and feel. Volvik put their best technologies into the S3, and I have to mention the Bismuth Enhanced Power Core which offers maximum distance via the power core's incredible elasticity, the Resilient Inner cover that features an optimized dual-core which is encapsulated into a very strong casing, thus promoting longer distance and optimal spin, the mythological Urethane-reinforced coating for excellent soft feel and improved spin rates and, last but not least, the proprietary 336 Quasi-Cubocthaedron dimple pattern for deadly accurate flight stability and mid height trajectory. As you can see, Volvik tried hard with the S3 and boy, did they delivered or what? Tech lingo aside, the most interesting (as in striking) real-life feature of the Volvik S3 is the distance off the driver.
A shot with this baby is like a wake up call, and that's due to the patented dual power core, which promotes great explosiveness thanks to its Bismuth content, which improves the energy transfer. So, distance is great, but so is the feel; unlike other cheaper 2-piece balls, here is where the S3 really excels compared with other brands, who can deliver the distance, but lack the feel. The unique urethane cover of the Volvik S3 features a special coating that offers unmatched soft feel upon impact together with improved spin control. The Volvik S3 feels very smooth, consistent and absolutely awesome around the greens, shot after shot, a truly amazing ball in every way, which is to be expected from a premium brand. To conclude, I must say that the Volvik S3 is as good as any other premium balls, yet better than most of them.
