He played steady golf on the Tour for a number of years. His first win on Tour came in 1994 at the Heineken Open Catalonia where he won by three shots. His second and final European Tour win came in 2000 at the Dubai Desert Classic where he finished two shots ahead of Paul McGinely and Patrick Sjoland. This was his best year on Tour having also had two runner-up finishes. He finished the season a career best 16th on the money list.
Coceres decided to try his hand at the PGA Tour in 2001. He won twice in his rookie season, becoming the first Argentinian since Roberto De Vicenzo in 1968 to win on the PGA Tour. His first win came at the WORLDCOM CLASSIC-The Heritage of Golf after defeating Billy Mayfair in a play-off. He then captured his second win at the National Car Rental Golf Classic Disney with a one shot victory over Davis Love III. This brought Coceres into the top 20 of the World Rankings. He finished his rookie year 34th on the money list despite only playing 19 events. He injured his arm shortly after and never played to the same standard again. He struggled with a wrist injury also which kept him out of the game for four years.
Coceres had somewhat of resurgence in form in 2007. He finished two events in a row, both after play-off losses. First, he lost to Fred Funk at the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun and a week later he lost to Mark Wilson at the Honda Classic. Despite only playing 17 events, he finished the year 72nd on the money list. Coceres has played sparingly since.
