In Gee is another in a string of young golf sensations from South Korea. The group, known as the “Seoul Sisters”, has come to dominate women’s professional golf. In Gee was a young math and golf prodigy. In fact, In Gee recorded a genius level IQ test. In the end, she chose golf over academics and didn’t waste any time getting her career started.
In Gee became a professional in 2012 as an eighteen year old and played satellite tours. In 2013, she joined the Korean LPGA Tour. Overshadowed by fellow Korean Hyo Joo Kim, Chun broke through by capturing the Korean Women’s Open, birdieing the final four holes to win by a single shot.
Her 2013 performance on the KLPGA was stellar. She made every cut, finished with nine top tens and was third on the money list.
2014 saw In Gee continue her solid play, winning three times and finishing 4th on the money list with 617 million won (the South Korean currency) in earnings. She ended the year as the 19th ranked women’s player in the world according to the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
In Gee will now set her sights on LPGA Tour events and the five Major tournaments recognized by the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour.
Chun is not long off the tee. She relies on an incredible short game and precise iron play.
