Andy Sullivan, a native of Nuneaton, England capped off a highly successful amateur career by winning the 2011 Scottish Amateur Open Stroke Play Championship and helping Great Britain and Ireland capture the 2011 Walker Cup at the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club where he won both of hisFourball matches and battled 2015 Masters Champion Jordan Spieth down to the wire in their singles match.
Sullivan followed up that effort by qualifying for the 2012 European Tour. Sullivan struggled in his first year on tour, finishing in 145th place in the Race to Dubai. This forced him back to qualifying school in late 2012 where he persevered and again earned his card for the 2013 season.
Sullivan’s sophomore campaign on the European Tour was more successful. He placed third at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and climbed to 98thplace in the Race to Dubai.
Sullivan’s performance continued to progress the next year. In 2014, he finished 33rd and was runner-up at the Trophee Hassan II.
2015 was Andy Sullivan’s breakout season, winning twice in a span of two months. He secured the South African Open Championship in a playoff over former Masters Champion and native South African Charl Schwartzel. He followed up his win in South Africa with a two-stroke win at the JoburgOpen where fired a final round 66.
These two victories qualified Sullivan for his first appearance in a Major — the 2015 Open Championship. Sullivan is currently ranked 59th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Sullivan’s role model growing up was fellow Englishman Lee Westwood. Off the course, Sullivan enjoys fishing and soccer.
