26 year old Korean professional Jiyai Shin is a two time British Open winner and has a host of the LPGA Tour titles to her name as well, she’s a very, very good player and gets the most out of her height at only five foot one she is one of the smallest players on tour but she has tremendous power. And a lot of that is the conditions that she creates at impact and especially with her left leg and with her left hip. As she comes through the ball rather than having a soft left knee that rotates around and turns out of the way, she really snaps and straightens the left leg through impact. And it’s that snap and that straightening of the left leg that really rotates and pulls the hips around into a very strong position.
As that hip comes around and the left leg straightens the club is pulled around or almost a bit of whiplash effect creating lots of club head speed and lots of power. So despite her small deminity stature she’s able to power the ball a long, long way. Now to practice that very simply its just do as it sounds when they come through impact really straighten the left leg and really allow that hip to rotate through. And if you can get it straightening you can get it rotating through the amount of club head speed you’re able to generate will increase. So give that a go you should find more power and that is a tip from a two time major championship.
