You're Correct!
If you are a right handed golfer, your right palm position at impact gives you a great deal of directional control and you will hit very accurate golf shots, close to your target.
Your right hand position at impact is an indicator of the club face position as it strikes the golf ball. Having your right hand in the correct position through impact will result in the club face being square to the target, or aiming directly at the target, as it strikes the golf ball. The club face is 85% responsible for the direction that the golf ball flies in, so having control over the club face means that you have control over the direction that the golf ball will be struck in and therefore you will be able to hit your shots very accurately.
Take your grip up on the golf club handle and if you are correctly holding the club, you will notice that your right hand sits so that it is basically palm towards the target as you address the club head to the golf ball. When you address the golf ball with the club head, you aim the club face at the target. Your right hand position when you do this is palm towards the target at address. To achieve a position where the club face is aiming at the target as it strikes the golf ball, you want your right hand back in this position, where your right palm is towards the target at impact. This means the club face will return back to the golf ball aiming at the target and result in the ball being struck directly towards the target if you swing the club head along the target line.
Turning your right palm to the left of the target at impact will result in the club face turning to the left of the target and you will hit the golf ball to the left of the target. Conversely, if you position your right hand so that your palm is turned to the right of the target through impact, the club face will replicate this position and aim right of the target as it strikes the golf ball, producing a shot that now flies to the right of the target.

If your right hand rotates inwards so that your palm is towards your body as the club head swings through impact, then you will close the club face as you strike the golf ball. This will result in the golf ball being struck to the left of the target and it will make it difficult to hit accurate golf shots.
Sorry Try Again! - See Explanation Below
If your right palm rotates to be palm outwards from your body as the club head swings through impact, then the club face will be open as it strikes the golf ball and your shot will fly to the right of the target. This will make shot accuracy very difficult.

If your right hand displays a palm upwards position as your swing the golf club through impact, then you are using and flicking your wrists too much and you will mis-strike the golf ball as the club head will strike the golf ball on the up swing and produce a topped golf shot.
