Why are some golf drivers squared headed? Now any swift look around any golf store that you’ve ever been in will soon tell you that golf drivers especially yours as well as most of the other clubs, there’s a massive amount of difference in their overall design and the overall the way they look as you set them behind the ball. Now there are lots and lots of reasons for this.

Specifically with the square headed driver it was an invention to try and push the perimeter waiting to the far edges of the golf club. With a normal conventional shape of a driver the perimeter waiting can be pushed far to the back the centre of gravity can be pushed a long way back as well and this will help give forgiveness, it will help lift the ball up into the air. With a square driver the perimeter waiting can be pushed even further back into the corners. Now this means the shaft the heel or off the toe will actually lift into the ball very, very easily. Now there are some people who don’t like the look of a square headed driver simply because it is such a departure from the traditional norm which is more of a tier shape more of a traditional shape of the driver. However, if you find the square headed driver that you like that you can hit, there is no reason why you shouldn’t use it. It’s just another design, another kind of feature that the engineers have come up with to try and help you play better golf shots. So if you are trying to find a new driver and you do come up across one with a square head, don’t be put off by the unusual nature, give it a go and see if it works for you because the technology behind it is sound even if it does look slightly strange.
