What is meant by sweeping golf swing? Now a sweeping golf swing or the opposite of steep golf swing refers to the angle of attack that the club takes, as it actually comes into the ball. A sweeping shot or a sweeping angle of attack means that the club travels very low and very close to the ground through impact catching the ball at the bottom of a very shallow arch before lifting it up into the air with a similar low and shallow through swing. Now the opposite steep angle of attack or steep swing will see the club travelling very much in a vertical motion down towards the ball, striking down on the ball quite severely and then hitting down into the turf after the actual shot.
Now what you tend to see, is a very shallow a very sweeping motion through the ball, won’t actually take too much of a delay or just pick the ball off very, very clean and I’ll send the ball up very, very high. If you go to a very steep angle of attack which like I said is going to be the opposite you catch a lot of the ball first and then the turf, and you’ll take a very, very big divot. A sweeping shot is most commonly used and is most beneficial when you’re hitting a driver because the ball needs to be further towards the front foot, off the left heel and it needs to be swept up and away off of the top of the tee. A steeper angle attack is most commonly utilized with a wedge when you need to strike down, and generate lots of back spin. But if you were to sweep the ball away, you’ll have a very, very shallow angle of attack and you’ll pick the ball very cleanly off the surface over the driver, you’ll pick you very cleanly off up into the air. Like I said with I ends mostly you’ll be using the steep angle of attack when you get to the woods, a shallow angle of attack and a sweeping motion is probably what you going to need.
