If you have a high ball flight, fantastic; you are at an advantage when compared to most amateur golfers who struggle to get the ball up in the air in a consistent manner. However, depending on how you hit the ball up in the air, can give different advantages and can give disadvantages as well. If you're someone who strikes down on the ball; so hits the ball first and then the turf and then you have that high ball flight, that's the best combination to have. Because you're striking the ball consistently, the ball is lifting up in to the air consistently with a good amount of spin. If you're someone who hits the ball high without taking much of a divot, what that could be showing is the fact that you're hitting the ball very cleanly and you're actually moving your angle of attack almost upwards throughout impact. Now that will give you a very, very high launch, however that will not give you much back spin; it won't give you that overall overriding control over the shots. So if you're hitting that ball flight with that nice strike, with that nice divot and you're getting that control, absolutely fantastic.
The only advantage that you will have with a high ball flight where you're hitting up is with the driver; Rory Mcllory is the best driver of the golf ball in the world today and what you will see with his ball flight, with his driver is that they are exceptionally high. However, he has the advantage of being able to shift his angle of attack to hit upwards with his driver and hitting down with his irons. As he hits down with his irons he generates back spin, he uses the approach from that loft, has the high ball flight with control. When he switches over to his driver, he manages to hit up, hits it high, but because he has low loft he has low spin and that winning combination allows him to have that high ball flight with all of his clubs whilst maintaining control with all his clubs as well. So playing with the high ball flight is very beneficial; this understanding how you use that and how you actually achieve that high ball flight to play within your limitations. So with the irons striking down, big plus; ball first, give it a high ball flight; with the driver hitting up high with a low spin, big advantage. If you can move your game towards that type of shot making, then you're going to have a massive advantage over most regular golfers.
