The first time you start hovering the driver, it can be a little bit of a difficult thing to try because most people will be coming to this from an entire golfing career of having the club rested down behind the ball before they hit the shot. So, all of a sudden actually lifting it up off the ground although it's a simple thing to do you actually might not feel very simple at all, you might feel incredibly awkward. So, how can you start to practice this, how can you start to know if the benefits will really be of an advantage to you without starting to hit the ball actually all over the place on the golf course.

The most simple drill that you can use and something that you can do with pretty much any driving range is simply practice swinging with just the tee. So without the golf ball with the tee because one of the biggest problems people have when they start hovering the driver is getting a sensation of actually delivering a back into impact in a similar position that involves at address. That’s why keeping the club on the ground with the irons might not be a terrible thing because you’re starting to bottom out of the club at about the same point as it was at address. If that club is hovering up and around in the air it's not always going to be easy to start delivering the club back down to the same position, so getting yourselves setup with just a driving range tee, getting setup and then just hovering the club just before the tees you would be on the golf course. Having that nice wide swing back and as you come through the only objective here is to just try and clip the very top of the golf tee. So, getting setup that wide backswing and as you come through just trying to clip the very top of the tee as you move through. If you can just clip the very top of the tee that ball when it's impacted is going to be in the center of the clubface. If you start hovering the driver and you’ll all of a sudden start finding your head behind the ball you're missing the tee all together this might not be the right thing for you. However, using that drill is such a very, very simple way of finding the bottom of your swing arc whilst using the hovering technique.
