Although Purdy quickly returned to the PGA Tour for the following season, he has achieved only a limited amount of success since. In fact, after having problems with his form on the PGA Tour he even worked for a short time representing a custom car company. Since then he has spent much of his time playing on the Web.com Tour.

Away from the course, Purdy is a family man. He and his wife Arlene live in Phoenix with their children. Purdy is the founder of the Ted Purdy foundation, which makes donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, A Stepping Stone, and Arnold Palmer's Children's Hospital.

As of the end of 2014, Purdy had achieved one win on the PGA Tour, amassing total prize money of $7,376,174.
