Australian golfer Elkington was born and grew up in New South Wales. After finishing his high school education he moved to the USA to attend college at the University of Houston. While at college he was a valuable member of the golf team. After graduating from college, Elkington turned professional in 1985.
After turning professional, Elkington went on to have a relatively successful PGA tour career. During the 1990s he achieved victories on ten occasions. In addition he achieved several impressive top 10 finishes. One memorable performance was his second place finish at the PGA Championship, in 2005. On four occasions, in 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2000, Elkington was a member of the International Team for the President’s Cup.
Away from the course Elkington is a family man. He is married with Two children. The family splits its time between homes in Sydney, Australia and Houston, Texas.
As of the end of 2014, Elkington had achieved ten wins on the PGA Tour, amassing total prize money of $15,505,418.
