His first PGA Tour victory took place the same year, when he won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. This victory earned him a place in the 2016 PGA Championship and also in the 2016 Masters Tournament.

As per Smylie Kaufman’s current PGA Tour status, he plays as the 2015-16 tournament winner (through 2017-18). Besides golf, Kaufman loves working out and basketball, and it’s interesting to notice that Smylie is not a nickname, but his actual family name. Despite his relatively short golfing career, he managed to earn more than 3.7 million dollars and he started a charity called Kids versus Cancer together with his younger brother, to help combating cancer in children.
