Sei Young Kim was born in South Korea in January 1993. The 5 foot 4 inch dynamo has already collected 7 professional wins at the tender age of 22.
Kim began winning consistently on the LPGA Tour of Korea in 2013. She won three times that year including the KLPGA Championship, a Major on the Korean Tour. She followed that up with a pair of wins in 2014. She ended 2014 10th on the KLPGA money list and 39th in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. Kim led the KLPGA in driving distance her last two years on tour.
She then turned her attention to the United States and the more lucrative LPGA Tour. She finished in 6th place at the year-end LPGA qualifying school earning her card for the 2015 season.
Kim has enjoyed an incredibly fast start on the LPGA Tour in 2015, winning twice though the end of May. She won her first title at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic in February by making birdie on the first playoff hole. She won in more dramatic fashion in April at the LPGA Lotte Championship, holing out a 150-yard shot for Eagle on the first hole, and defeating Inbee Park in the process. Incredibly, Kim had to chip in for birdie on the 72nd hole to force the playoff with a shell-shocked Park.
Off the course, Kim is a blackbelt in Taekwondo
