Scott Langley was a highly-accomplished amateur, a fact best demonstrated by his tie for 16th place as an amateur at the 2010 U.S. Open. Earlier that year, he won the NCAA Division I individual championship as a member of the University of Illinois men’s golf team. Langley was also a quarter-finalist at the U.S. Amateur that season.
Langley competed in the 2012 PGA Tour year-end qualifying school tournament and earned his tour card for the 2013 season.
Langley’s first round as a professional was a sizzling 62 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He ended up finishing in a tie for 3rdplace that week. Langley’s play was more inconsistent the balance of his rookie season but he ended up in 124th place on the money list – retaining his full playing privileges for the 2014 season.
Langley made 19 of 29 cuts in 2014 and recorded six top-25 finishes, including a 3rd place. Langley is having a similar season in 2015. Through the end of July, Langley has made 18 of 26 cuts, posted six top-25’s and earned $626,000 – good enough for 132nd on the season money list. Langley played particularly well in July, posting a tie for 13th at the Greenbrier Classic, a tie for 16th at the Barbasol Championship and tie for 22nd at the RBC Canadian Open.
Off the course, Langley is a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. He is also an accomplished violin player.
