Born in Durban, South Africa, in 1976, Sabbatini began playing golf when he was just four years old. As he got older he became more intent on excelling at the game, and he went on to play the sport while at college, at the University of Arizona. After college, Sabbatini turned professional in 1998. The following year, he joined the PGA Tour for the first time. In the 2000s Sabbatini won five times on the Tour. Sabbatini also achieved other high quality results. He finished in second place at both the Masters Tournament and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, in 2007. His appearance in the Presidents Cup that year was less successful, when the International team lost to the team from the United States.
Sabbatini’s fifth PGA Tour win, in 2009, at the HP Byron Nelson Championship, was achieved with a tournament record score of 269. It was two years before Sabbatini won again on the PGA Tour, at the Honda Classic.
As of the end of 2014, Sabbatini had achieved six wins on the PGA Tour, amassing total prize money of $27,817,397.
