    Castro was born in Houston, Texas in 1985, to a Peruvian mother and a Costa Rican father. Castro’s uncle is former LPGA Tour golfer Jenny Lidback, and both of his brothers also played golf while at college.  Castro played golf while attending Georgia Tech, and was second-team All-American in 2007. In each of his years at college, Castro was named on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) team, and he was Rookie of the Year in 2004. In 2005 and 2006 Castro was a member of the US Palmer Cup team, experiencing first a win, then a defeat.

    Castro turned professional in 2007, and started his professional career playing on the eGolf Professional Tour. He played on that tour from 2007 to 2010, and in 2010 he commenced playing on the Nationwide Tour. The following year, Castro played his first full season on the Nationwide Tour, and achieved four top 10 finishes. He finished the season in 23rd place on the money list, which was good enough for him to earn a card for the PGA Tour, for the following season. In 2013, Castro his best PGA Tour result so far, when he finished in second place at the AT&T National.

    Away from the course, Castro is married to Katie, and the couple lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
    As of the end of 2014, Castro was yet to achieve a win in the PGA Tour, but had amassed total prize money of $3,525,926.
