Kyle Reifers was born to golf-playing parents. His father and mother won Ohio state amateur tournaments and his father was inducted into the Ohio Golf Hall of Fame. Reifers grew into an outstanding amateur player, winning the Monroe Invitational and Ohio State Amateur tournaments in 2004. He was ranked the world’s #1 amateur player in 2005 and represented the United States at the Walker Cup.
Reifers attended Wake Forest University on an Arnold Palmer golf scholarship. He capped of his college career by finishing second in the individual stroke play of the NCAA Division I Championships his senior year.
Reifers came out of the blocks quickly, winning his first pro tournament just one week after the NCAA Championships. Reifers won the eGolf Tarheel Tour’s Charlotte National Open. Reifers then used a Monday qualifier to gain entry into the Nationwide Tour’s Chattanooga Classic the very next week. Reifers became only the 11th player to win on the Nationwide Tour in their first start.
Reifers earned his PGA Tour card at the year-end qualifying school tournament.
After making only 9 of 27 cuts, it was back to the Nationwide Tour for the 2008 season. This pattern of bouncing between the Nationwide/Web.com Tours and the PGA continued for several seasons.
Currently, through mid-summer in 2015, Reifers has made 12 of 24 cuts and earned more than $735,000. He’s also recorded 5 top twenty-five performances. His best performance this season is a tie for 8th place at the Northern Trust Open, enabled by a sizzling 67 in the final round.
