James Byrne is a Scottish golfer who was actually born in Gorleston, England in 1989, but moved with his family to Scotland at the age of three weeks. As a child, Byrne developed a love for both swimming and golf. By the time he was 14, he was struggling to keep up with the double training regime, so he gave up swimming competitively. In 2007, Byrne moved to the US, to attend Arizona State University on a golf scholarship. Four years later, in 2011, Byrne turned professional.

As of the end of 2014, Byrne was yet to play on the PGA Tour.
