Stenson plays on both the PGA and European Tours. He has ranked as high as second in the world, which is a record for a Swedish golfer. After turning pro, Stenson played a season on the Challenge Tour where he topped the money list after winning three times. He won in his rookie season at the Benson & Hedges International Open by three shots. He went on to finish the season 44th on the money list. To date, Stenson has won nine European Tour events. In both 2006 and 2007, the Swede won two events. He also won back to back DP World Tour Championships in 2013 and 2014. He finished 2013 season as the Race to Dubai Champion and FedEx Cup champion.
His biggest win to date was at the WGC -Accenture Match Play Championship in 2007 when he defeated Australian Geoff Ogilvy 2&1 in the final. Stenson starting playing on the PGA Tour part time in 2006. To date he has four PGA Tour titles including the Players Championship and the Tour Championship. He was the first player ever to win both the FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai in a single season.
Stenson has come close to becoming Sweden’s first ever Major Champion. He finished runner up to Phil Mickelson at the 2013 British Open. In the last seven years, he has finished in the top 5 eight times at Major Championships. The only one he doesn’t have a top 20 finish in is the US Masters. Along with partner Robert Karlsson, Stenson won the World Cup for Sweden in 2008. He has made three Ryder Cup appearances, 2006, 2008 and 2014, being on the winning side on two occasions. He sunk the winning putt in 2006 at the K Club.
