    Born in Middletown, Ohio in 1969, Lickliter attended Franklin High School, before going on to graduate from Wright State University, in 1991. He turned professional that same year. After turning professional, Lickliter first played on the Nike Tour, which is now known as the Web.com Tour. He won on the tour, for the first time, in 1995. The following year, he joined the PGA Tour, where he went on to win 2001 and 2003. Since starting to play on the PGA Tour, Lickliter’s best performance at a major so far has been a tie for fourth place, at the 1998 PGA Championship.

    Away from the golf course, Lickliter has taken part in bear hunting, on several occasions, with fellow golfer Fuzzy Zoeller. He is also heavily involved with supporting US troops. He has taken part in visits to the troops, and also helps to raise awareness of the Wounded Warrior Project, which is aimed at helping soldiers who have been injured during conflict.

    As of the end of 2014, Lickliter was yet to achieve a win on the PGA Tour, but he had amassed total prize money of $11,812,528.
