Lamely was born in Belleville, Illinois in 1980. He played golf while at Montgomery High School, and was a member of the Texas State Championship while he was there. After finishing high school, Lamely attended McNeese State University before moving to Florida Gulf Coast University. While at college Lamely continued to play golf, and he turned professional in 2004.
After turning professional, Lamely spent most of his time playing on mini tours. He had some success, winning at both the Iowa Open in 2004 and the Waterloo Open Golf Classic in 2008. He participated at qualifying school that year, but failed to earn his Tour card. Instead he joined the Nationwide Tour for the 2009 season. Lamely achieved his first win on the tour, at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational. He finished the season in 4th place on the money list. This meant that he earned his PGA Tour card for the following season.
During his first season on the PGA Tour, Lamely won his first event at the Puerto Rico Open. As a result of this win Lamely earned $643,000 in prize money. It also meant that he earned to two year exemption on the PGA Tour. After this initial success, Lamely did not have any further major successes on the Tour. He did not play in 2013, returning in 2014.
