Illinois native Weibring started playing golf from a young age, encouraged by his father, who cut down a wooden shafted putter for him to use. Weibring was also an all-state basketball player when he was young. After high school, Weibring attended Illinois State University, from where he gained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Weibring turned professional a year after graduating from college.
After turning professional Weibring achieved five wins on the PGA Tour. Three of these wins came at Quad Cities; the first one in 1979. Weibring’s last win on the PGA Tour was achieved in 1996, at the Canon Greater Hartford Open. After Weibring turned 50 in 2003, he began playing on the Champions Tour where he has won on several occasions.
In 2001, in recognition of his golf career, Weibring was inducted into the Illinois PGA Hall of Fame. Away from his playing career, Weibring owns a golf course design and management company. The company has been involved in the design and renovation of more than 80 courses worldwide. Weibring is also a family man, with three children Allison, Katy and Matt. Golf runs in the family, with Matt becoming a player on the Web.com Tour.
As of the end of 2014, Weibring had achieved five wins on the PGA Tour, amassing total prize money of $4,770,705.
