Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1973, Wetterich was a student at Oak Hills High School and Wallace State Community College, before turning professional as a golfer in 1994. Wetterich started on the PGA Tour in 2000, but unfortunately he was hampered by injury, which somewhat adversely affected his career as he was restricted to playing on the Nationwide Tour for the following seasons. Wetterich did see some success on the Nationwide Tour, achieving wins in 2003 and 2004.
The following season, Wetterich returned to play on the PGA Tour, and he achieved his first win, at the 2006 EDS Byron Nelson Championship. That year was relatively successful for Wetterich as he finished tenth on the PGA Tour money list, having amassed winnings of $3,023,185. He was also selected to play on the US Ryder Cup team.
From 2008 Wetterich began to have problems with injury; that year he only played for part of the season due to an injury to his shoulder. Since then Wetterich’s PGA Tour career has suffered. His shoulder injury meant that he did not play at all in 2009, and in 2010 he did not satisfy his medical exemption and finished in 156th place on the money list. Wetterich played 2011 on the Nationwide Tour, where he had one successful moment with a third Nationwide Tour win. However, he failed to qualify for a PGA Tour Card for the following season as he only finished in 29th place on the money list. He was not played on the PGA Tour since then. Over his entire career, Wetterich’s highest position in the World Golf Rankings was 21st.
Away from the golf course, Wetterich lives in Green Township, Hamilton County, Ohio with his wife and their daughter.
As of the end of 2014, Wetterich had achieved one PGA Tour win, amassing prize money of $7,008,472.
