Argentinian Romero plays on both the PGA Tour and the European Tour. He first qualified for the European Tour in 2005 when he finished in fourteenth position in the Challenge Tour rankings. At the end of his first season on the tour he finished in thirty fifth place in the Order of Merit. Romero’s first win on the European Tour came at the Deutsche Bank Players Championship of Europe in 2007. Following this success he finished the season in seventh place in the Order of Merit. He also rose to 29th in the World Player list following that first win.
The following season saw Romero won for the first time on the PGA Tour, at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. As a result of this win he rose to twenty first in the World Player rankings. This was a successful first season on the PGA tour for Romero; so much so that he was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
Off the course Romero had to give up his passion of mountain biking when he turned professional, as it was thought to be too dangerous. He is still a fan of biking although he can’t participate, and he also enjoys soccer. In 2012 Romero joined forces with fellow Argentinian Carlos Tevez when the football star caddied for him at the Open Championship.
As of the end of 2014 Romero had played in 157 events on the PGA Tour. He has had one PGA Tour win and has amassed total prize money of $8,391,469
