Born in Denmark in 1970, it took Anders Rosenberg Hansen a while to establish himself on the circuit, after turning professional in 1995. He didn’t qualify to play on the European Tour until 1999; four years after his professional start. He experienced his first win on the tour at the 2002 Volvo PGA Championship. He has been consistent on the tour, finishing in the top 60 of the order of merit each year from 2000 to 2012. He has been ranked as number one Danish golfer and has also featured in the World Top 25.
Hansen first qualified for the PGA Tour in 2002, and has also played the Tour in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012. His best finish in a major came in 2011 when he finished third in the PGA Championship. Also in 2011 he was the highest ranked player on the European Tour not to achieve a win. In 2013 Hansen suffered a wrist injury which kept him out of competition for six months. He sealed his return in April 2014 with a second place finish at The Championship at Laguna National.
As well as playing individually Hansen has represented Denmark in the WGC-World Cup in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007. An impressive run of representing his country.
When he isn’t playing golf Hansen has three children to keep him busy, Marcus (born in1998), Filuca (born in 2003) and Smilla (born in 2006). He also participates in, and watches, several other sports.
As of the end of 2014 Hansen had played a total of fifty seven events on the PGA Tour. He is yet to achieve a win on the PGA Tour; he has amassed prize money of $1,319,755.
