Not everything is grim nowadays, with the Covid-19 extravaganza and all that, as the good news for today is that Tour Edge’s latest Exotics Ti-Utility Iron is now available for purchase at all major retailers all across the United States. If you’re a fan of Tour Edge, you’re probably savvy with the company’s nomenclature, i.e. you’ve already guessed that the Ti particle stands for titanium. The thing is, titanium is a relatively exotic material (not so much in golf-world), and yes, the Ti-Utility iron makes for titanium faced hollow body design ironwood, featuring an old-school shape, and being crafted to offer the impressive workability of a classic forged iron combined with the distance capability specific to a metal wood.
Speaking of exotic materials and technology, Tour Edge’s 2020 EXS Ti-Utility iron in a hollow body design comes with a cutting edge (pun intended) Beta Titanium L-Cup Face attached, or we should say Combo Brazed, onto the club’s stainless steel body (431 variety by the way). And if you are not yet savvy as to what the EXS Ti-Utility iron is all about, well, the name of the game is forgiveness and distance via maximum perimeter weighting. Speaking of Combo Brazed, here’s Dave Glod’s explanation, and this guy knows what he’s talking about since he is the founder of Tour Edge:
“The combo brazed titanium face allowed us to take large amount of weight out of the sole and back of the clubhead, allowing the clubhead to be more compact than our CBX Iron-Wood”
To make it clear for our readers, Combo Brazed is basically a technology that fuses steel and titanium together, but without employing welding, and yes, zero welding technology means reduced weight, which translates into a faster club and more powerful/better/improved/what have you transfer of energy. Now, according to the company’s manifesto, the new 2020 Exotics Ti-Utility Iron is the next best thing since 3D printing or something along these lines, as it makes for a hotter and softer utility iron compared to its predecessors, which delivers ridiculously fast ball speeds while employing an ultra-lightweight face. Speaking of the latter, the Tour Edge Exotics Ti-Utility iron features a deeper center of gravity, which leads to a narrowed sole, i.e. this baby looks awesome at address; in the same time, a deeper center of gravity works great in terms of providing golfers with an easy to launch/easy to hit utility iron, which by the way is the main reason for which we are buying the stuff in the first place, and that’s one hundred percent due to the hollow body design of the club, that delivers optimal perimeter weight distribution.
Here’s the company founder, president and also Master Club Designer David Glod commenting on the new Ti-Utility iron:
“Tour Edge Exotics utility irons have seen a meteoric rise, becoming one of the most played utility irons on the professional tours. I have a great feeling that the EXS Ti-Utility will be in play by many of the best players in the world.”
The new club benefits from a rounded hybrid-style sole, that works in tandem with a beveled leading edge, making for a utility iron that glides like a dream through all lies, not to mention the specially designed notch hosel that permits bending up or flat lies plus/minus 3 degrees, thus allowing optimal custom fitting. The 2020 Exotics Ti-Utility Iron can be ordered in Black Pearl or Chrome Silver finishes, with #2/17-degree,#3/19-degree,#4/22-degree and #5/25-degree options starting with April 1st, and if you are wondering about the retail price, don’t worry, it’s pretty much in line with what we were all expecting: $199,99 MSRP.
