Titleist Presents 2020 T100-S irons

Titleist is one of the most respected golf gear manufacturers in the world and one of the oldest in the business, and today’s news is about the company’s latest irons: the T100-S. To make it real simple for our readers, the new irons are calibrated for distance, and the best way to describe them is bigger, better, faster, more, or, to put it in golf terms, stronger flight, faster, all in the same package we expect from Titleist.

To give you a little bit of context, last summer Titleist revealed its completely redesigned and reengineered T-series, which included the T100, T200, and T300 irons. The latter two featured the company’s patented Max Impact technology, to boost launch and ball speed, while the T100 iron was built around an extremely high moment of inertia in a more compact/shrunken down look, which is obviously the most player preferred design.

That’s the secret behind the T100’s fulminant success, as it quickly became the PGA Tour’s number one iron. If you want to understand what the T100-S irons are all about, think about the automotive world, at Porsche specifically. Think along the lines of Porsche Turbo vs the Turbo S model, i.e. the T 100-S iron is a more refined/higher performance version of the T100, yet all the technological refinements are there, more or less the same, including the iron’s thin and responsive face, the overall shape/sole design and even the dual-density tungsten technology. Everything is basically the same, as Titleist didn't try to reinvent the wheel, nor to change an already perfect tool. Everything under the hood is more or less the same in the T100-S iron, and to make it clear, here’s Josh Talge, Vice President, Titleist Golf Club Marketing commenting on the company’s S version:

“As we were launching the new T-Series, we met a lot of golfers who were really excited about T100 but had become accustomed to playing stronger-lofted iron sets. It would have been really easy to just take T100’s and bend them stronger for those players. But by doing that you start to sacrifice the incredible feel and turf interaction … So our engineers went back and redesigned each individual iron to give these players the stronger lofts and distance they’re looking for, while preserving the performance of that pure forged shape and sole.”

So, to cut to the chase, the T100-S features slightly stronger lofts compared to the “vanilla” version, and it’s aimed at stronger golfers who want a T100 iron which is closer to the T200/T300 in terms of specs, i.e. increased offset and reduced bounce. The new T100-S can be ordered with a True Temper Project X LZ stock-shaft, but, if one so inclined, there are many custom shaft choices, some of them at no up-charge. An eight-piece set of the T100-S costs $1399.99 MSRP, which translates into $175/club, and you can order these beauties starting with March 27th in golf shops worldwide.
