Mamiya’s R&D department worked overtime trying to hit the world with a stable and lightweight product, without sacrificing feel in the process. The end result is the LIN-Q shaft, which feels as good as it gets due to a revolutionary technology employed by UST, the Q-Fiber technology respectively which works wonders in terms of keeping a light weight-to-stability ratio. The next question from our readers is what on Earth is Q-Fiber technology, and here’s the short answer: this composite material is basically a lightweight fiber also known as low-FAW, or low fiber areal weight, and using this material allowed UST to add micro plies of Q without sacrificing overall weight in the process.
Less is more or something along these lines, hence the new shaft benefits from improved hoop strength that works by reducing ovaling during the swing, hence helping with eliminating energy loss. We know, that sounds pretty complicated, but think in terms of lightweight, less energy loss and a more stable shaft, and there you have it.
