PXG Redefines Precision With Their Latest 0311 ST Irons

PXG is for golf what Apple is for the smartphone industry, and in case you didn't know it yet, the acronym stands for Parsons Xtreme Golf. Basically, PXG is a company specialized in designing and crafting high end/premium and very expensive golf gear aimed at enthusiasts, and their latest 2019 PXG 0311 ST is statement to that fact. Since we’re talking about PXG, it comes as no surprise that their new irons are built with the company’s famous attention to detail and meticulous engineering; we may even dare say that the PXG 0311 ST are almost perfect and equally beautiful, raising the standard once again in the premium niche. These babies are the logical successor PXG’s almost affordable and wildly successful milled irons; the ST particle stands for super tour by the way, which means that each PXG 0311 ST iron is one hundred percent milled from high quality triple-forged billets of 8620 soft carbon steel.

This particular choice of steel is pretty interesting, as the 8620 is pretty strong and durable, yet relatively soft, which translates into long lasting grooves, that compared to other soft steel alloys employed by other manufacturers. However, this special soft carbon steel is remarkable as it makes zero compromises in regard to performance and feel, which is kind of amazing, to say the least. The new PXG 0311 ST iron is milled from start to finish, which means there’s no “human error” element left into play, i.e. these babies are near-perfect, or as perfect as our current machines allows them to be. Every curve, every surface, every draft angle is crafted in order to exact PGX’s specs, which means each iron head is exactly as the other, and exactly as it should be.

If you were wondering, the new irons from PXG are available on pre-order since August, and the delivery date is late September, i.e. they’re already shipping. And for the price asked, well, these are PXG premium irons, hence you’ll have to pay $650 per club or $4,550 for a seven-club set. If you think that’s a lot, well, it kind of is, but truth be told, with the release of their latest irons the company brought the milling process to the super premium category in a big way, and they’re the first to do that. Basically, if you’re that type of golfer looking for a high end iron set to boost distance, or, why not, to reduce the severity of your miss hits, the sad news is that the 0311 ST irons are definitely not your best choice. If you want help with those things, you don't need a super-tour iron, i.e. look elsewhere (hint: the 0311P GEN2, 0311XF GEN2 and 0311 SGI GEN2 from PXG might do the trick for you). The 0311 ST are aimed at better golfers who can deliver consistent/repeatable swings, and who demand ultimate levels of feel and control, while being capable of supplying their own power. If you fall into this category, just go for it and thank us later. Just to give you an idea, Ryan Moore used these cool clubs right before the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage back in May with impressive results. PXG founder Bob Parsons said about Ryan Moore’s experience:

“When we invited Ryan to try our new milled irons as part of the development process, we couldn't pry them out of his hands. Based on his response, the response of several other outstanding golfers, and our testing, we knew we had achieved our goal. We created a 100% milled, pure tour blade that's money if you've got the game.”

PXG staff professional and Five-time PGA TOUR winner and Ryan Moore retorted:

“I love the new PXG milled irons. They feel incredible, and I have the ability to work the ball exactly how I want to on every shot”
