While True Temper continues to dominate the market for steel shafts, a lesser-known brand has made recent inroads with tour players. KBS Shafts, founded in 2007, enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2013.
Adam Scott (the Masters), Justin Rose (U.S. Open) and Phil Mickelson (Open Championship) each used KBS shafts in their irons en route to winning major championships. On the Champions Tour, Kenny Perry claimed the U.S. Senior Open playing KBS shafts.
The company makes a wide variety of products aimed primarily at high-level players. KBS touts its shafts’ superior distance, pinpoint control, penetrating trajectory and smooth feel.
