If you’re a big fan of Titleist gear, you probably know that the US Open is going to start on Monday, August 26th, and that’s the day when you’ll be able to see the new Titleist 620 MB, CB, and T100 irons live and loud, in real combat! It’s a well-known fact that the US Open is the biggest event in professional golf, and the place where players are testing both their skills and patience via ball striking, driving, putting, recoveries, you know, the whole 9 yards and 18 holes. However, speaking of ball striking, there’s no better place than the US Open to test a new iron, i.e. this is the ultimate proving ground, or the holy ground for irons, depending on how you look at things.
That’s why Titleist chose this event to test-drive for the first time in Tour their latest 620 MB and 620 CB irons, as well as a new edition to the T100 irons line. Basically, Titleist is putting these new irons into the hands of Tour pros under real-life playing conditions, just like they did recently with their new TS driving irons and hybrids. Let the chips fall where they may, right?
At the time we’re writing this article, the details about Titleist’s new irons are pretty scarce, but here’s the deal: the brand spanking new 620 MB/CB irons are going to replace the company’s current line of cavity backs and blades. Another interesting factoid about the 620 MB/CB irons is that they mark the return to the 600 branding for the company, and incidentally, some of the best blades Titleist ever made are associated with the 600 nomenclature, and obviously we’re talking about the 670s, 680s and 690s, going all the way back to…well, 2006 if memory serves. Stay tuned, as we’ll let you know more as the “story” is developing.
