    Monroe Country Club Course Review

The true Diamond in the Rough. Monroe Country Club is tucked away, deep in the heart of Monroe, NC and is possibly the best public golf course in the state of North Carolina. I will go out on a limb and say you have not ever played it, let alone even heard of it. The practice facilities and clubhouse are nothing to brag about, but the golf course is far beyond any other public course in the area. The front nine is a Donald Ross typical course, with small greens, sloping back to front. They were very smart with adding Bermuda Greens to this golf course, and it adds a level of difficulty that is unsurpassed.

As I previously mentioned, the practice facility is nothing to brag about, and is my only negative opinion of this golf course. The driving range is a decent size, but the golf balls are clearly recycled from other courses. The practice green is quite small, but is pretty flat, which allows for you to really work on your putting from ten foot and in. They do have a small chipping green tucked in the middle of the parking lot, and tends to burn out as the summer drags on.

Dont let the practice facilities hold you back. The golf course is absolutely stunning, with Bermuda from tee to green. The front nine is the shorter of the two nines, and if you are looking to put up a good number, you need to take advantage of this side. ?The back nine was built in the recent years, and does not have the Donald Ross feel to it. The back nine is packed with long par 4s and greens packed with undulation, but putting up a low score is still a very high possibility.
