Forest Oaks Country Club Course Review

A true classic course in the heart of Greensboro, NC. Forest Oaks once hosted the Greater Greensboro Open (Now the Wyndham Championship), was bought by NFL Athlete Ricky Proehl, entered bankruptcy (Not under the ownership of Proehl), shut down, and has since re-opened and been fully restored to the masterpiece that it once was. Pretty crazy how this course has survived such a strenuous past, but it is back and blooming.

The practice facilities still have the same extravagance that they had during the PGA Tour days, with a driving range that goes on for days, a practice facility that is second to none, and a tour sized putting green that can accommodate any type of golfer. The driving range is a short walk through the parking lot, and is equipped with a dozen target greens. The short game area has three target greens, and bunkers of all shapes and sizes. The putting green allows for dozens of golfers to putt at the same time, and has just the right amount of undulation to work on any number of putts.

The golf course, is absolutely stunning. When they redesigned the course, they brought in large amounts of natural grasses to place in between holes, and it added great views throughout. The golf course is equipped with Bermuda from tee to green, and allows for the course to stay in top-notch conditions throughout the entire golfing season. The layout is exactly how it was originally designed, with the exception of some added distance, thanks to John Dalys famous Drive on the par 5 13th hole which he carried over the pond and left himself with a wedge to the green. Now this hole is a driver and 3 wood combo for even the longest hitters. Forest Oaks is a true masterpiece, and carries all kinds of history that makes it truly a cant miss.
